Cleaning Tips for a White Professional Uniform
To preserve the pristine whiteness of your professional uniform, there are many simple and inexpensive cleaning tips. Our advice to revive the white:
Use baking soda. For example, you can pour 2 cups of baking soda into the drum of your washing machine, and you’re done!
Use baking powder. If you don’t have baking soda, a packet of baking powder can work just as well. Both have almost the same whitening effect on laundry. Simply add one packet to your regular detergent and start your wash cycle.
Add lemon. A natural bleaching agent, lemon does not damage the fabric and leaves a pleasant light fragrance. You can pour a glass of lemon juice into your washing machine or soak your uniform for a few hours in a basin with lemon and hot water before washing.
Add blue chalk. Placing a few pieces of blue chalk in the rinse compartment of your machine will bring back brightness and whiteness to your professional clothes.
Use hydrogen peroxide or “eau écarlate” (stain remover). Soak your workwear in a mix of hot water and hydrogen peroxide (at least 30% concentration) or stain remover. Let it act, rinse, then run a long machine cycle.
How to Remove Stains from a White Professional Uniform?
Despite all the care you give your white uniform, stains and dirt are inevitable. Fortunately, there are solutions to remove stains from your workwear without damaging or yellowing the fabric.
Use Marseille soap, a practical and economical solution for stain removal.
Step 1: Rub the stain with soap dampened in cold water to soak the fabric, then leave it to act for a few hours.
Step 2: If the stain is still visible, soak the workwear in a basin of water and add a bit of white vinegar or lemon to enhance the stain-removing effect.
Then, rinse quickly with cold water and wash your uniform in the machine. You can add one of the whitening ingredients mentioned earlier to your detergent.
Final step: Let your white professional uniform dry naturally in open air rather than using a dryer.
